Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We are excited to announce our upcoming 9/11 Week of Service, an opportunity for us to come together as disciples of Jesus Christ to bless our community through meaningful acts of service.
This year, we are joining with many across the nation in connection with the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance. The purpose of this day is to transform the anniversary of 9/11 from a day of tragedy into a day of doing good. As 9/11 Day co-founder David Paine shared, “We wanted instead to honor the victims and those who rose in service by keeping alive the spirit of unity and service that arose in the immediate aftermath of the September 11 attacks.”
We invite each family and individual in the Stake to prayerfully choose a service opportunity—whether helping a neighbor, volunteering with a local organization, or working together on a community project—and dedicate time during the week of September 11th to serve with love.
As we serve side by side, our light will shine more brightly, and those around us will feel the love of the Savior through our actions. Families are encouraged to plan their projects together and, if possible, invite friends and neighbors to join in.
Details of various projects and suggested service ideas are listed below.
